James McKean, DVM, Associate Veterinarian

Biography

A 1998 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. McKean has been part of Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center since 2002. He enjoys the challenges of general medicine and surgery. His special interest lies in canine reproductive medicine, having received advanced training at the Ohio State University. In addition to canine reproductive services, Dr. McKean, a PennHIP certified member, can help evaluate a dog's hip integrity by performing PennHIP rediographs. PennHIP is widely considered to be the most accurate hip screening method available.

Prior to his veterinary training, he received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in 1991. He was an elementary school Science teacher in Connecticut for two years prior to enrolling in veterinary school. In his free time, he spends time with his wife, two daughters, and three Labrador Retrievers, "Dutch", "Lily" and "Jack". Dr. McKean is an avid golfer and enjoys gardening and landscaping.
