Maryn Nakasone, DVM, Associate VeterinarianDVM, Western University of Health Sciences
Dr. Maryn Nakasone was born and raised on Oahu where she started rescuing wounded or abandoned wild birds as a child. Her passion for animals led to pursuing work as a stable hand at Camp Smith Stables, as well as working at various veterinary hospitals prior to attending veterinary medical school.
She obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cellular Molecular Biology from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. She then attended veterinary medical school at Western University of Health Sciences. She has also completed an internship at VCA Veterinary Emergency Animal Hospital and Referral Center in San Diego, California.
Dr. Nakasone is a General Practitioner with special interest including internal medicine, cardiology, and preventative medicine and has been with VCA Kaneohe Animal Hospital since 2013. She is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
She enjoys indulging in a good book or movie, playing with Michi (the sweetest min-pin/chihuahua/terrier poi dog ever), hiking, traveling, photography, horse-back riding, and participating in Okinawan festivals.
