Compassionate People

-Stephanie Kirkpatrick from Wytheville, VA
Pet Name: Shelly

I took my older cat for a second opinion when I had been told I would lose her. Dr Dunnivant was amazing. She gave me hope when the other Vet I had gone to did not. She treated my cat like every minute was worth her time. When I had questions about my bill, the hospital manager explained every procedure and what they were for. She was caring and clearly professional. This hospital is worlds above my old Vet and I will gladly drive the hour to use them again.

Thanks guys

-Megan from Abingdon, VA
Pet Name: Sophie-Kit and Riley-Kat

This place is amazing! Any questions I have are answered and phone calls are returned! The caring friendly staff makes the place!! Our cats are patients here and I wouldn't take them anywhere else! Dr. Roberts is amazing and you can tell he loves his job!

Underdog, in more ways than one.

-Joe Rockhead from Bristol, TN
Pet Name: Underdog

This little guy came to us as a stray. He was weak, thin and was bleeding profusely from his rectum. Thanks to Dr. Elizabeth Lewis- Graham, this little guy is now happy, healthy and truly is Underdog! I cannot say enough about how professional, compassionate and caring these vets and staff are at VCA Highlands.

When The End Comes

-Kim Anthony Shaffer from Bristol, TN
Pet Name: Barney

My best friend Barney was 20 years old. One might imagine that having had this old guy as a family member for so long, it was going to be extra hard to let him go where all dogs must in their own time. As an Army veteran who has a unique perspective on the death of friends, it was exceedingly difficult for me to embrace allowing my buddy to pass on. The end is a very hard place to be.

I cannot say enough how supportive and compassionate these folks are. No, it was not easy but they allowed my old friend to pass with dignity and in a comfortable manner. My dogs are my family and VCA Highlands is the only place I will ever take them for care. A special thank you and a hug to Dr. Gina Robinson, Laura Farley and Stephanie Yoder. I still say, you folks are truly angels.

Compassion

-Christina from Abingdon, VA
Pet Name: Casi

WOW! Is all I have to say! I have been using VCA Highlands since bringing Casi into out family and have always been satisfied with the care my four legged babies received but nothing compares to how far they went when the worst happened to my baby (Casi). We rushed her in on a Friday evening due to discoloration in her face and the staff went right to work. The staff, receptionists, techs, vets, etc. were all awesome when I made numerous calls throughout the night to check on Casi. They never complained, never rushed me through and showed genuine concern for both myself and Casi, even when I spent hours sitting in the floor by her crying. When the inevitable (euthanization) had to be done they provided Casi and I a quiet place and allowed me to hold her for her last moments. I will never forget how caring and compassionate the staff was. Thank you all - Unfortunately, the only name I can remember is Dr. Mask, but everyone I encountered was wonderful.

Blessing in Disguise

-Sarah from Lebanon, VA
Pet Name: Pixel and Kelly

My first experience with VCA Highlands was after my 3 month old kitten accidentally flipped a chair over on herself. I brought her in and Dr. Mask took excellent care of her! She made a full recovery from her fractured pelvis and Dr. Mask even treated an unrelated issue. After such a great experience, I decided to bring in my 16 yr old cat. Dr. Mask diagnosed her with a thyroid condition and put her on a daily medicine. She is now doing better than she has in years! Most recently, the younger cat had a place on her head that Dr. Mask suggested we remove. It turned out to be a very rare feline sarcoid. She is doing excellent now! I believe it was a blessing in disguise that my kitten had an emergency since it lead us to VCA Highlands and Dr. Mask!
