Biography

Dr. Dateno joined our VCA Gulf Bay team July 2013. She received her Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from the College of Charleston, SC.  After graduating, she attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned an Ensign in the US Navy.  After many years of working and travelling the world with the Navy,  she decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.  She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006.  After graduating from veterinary school, she and her family relocated to Raleigh, NC.   Her first job as a veterinarian was at a busy, modern, state of the art animal hospital in Raleigh, NC.  While in Raleigh, she retired as a CDR from the US Navy.  She gained an enormous amount of experience with all facets of veterinary medicine and surgery while in Raleigh, NC.  She is excited to have relocated here to Clearwater with her family.  While not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends along with all outdoor activities.  She is typically found at the beach and hopes to get in some great diving while here in Florida.

“I enjoy the daily intellectual challenge that veterinary medicine offers. However, my greatest joy is my interaction with clients and their pets! Nothing better than keeping a pet healthy and the owners well educated on the care of that pet while going to work to a job that you love!”
