Christine Handlin, DVM, Medical Director

DVM, University of Missouri

Dr. Christine Handlin has been both a part time and full time Veterinarian with VCA for 14 years.  Dr. Handlin was raised on Long Island and received her BS in Biology from Fordham University.  While attending Fordham, she worked as primary caretaker and trainer of the Capuchin Monkeys for the Helping Hands organization, which provides Capuchin Monkey aides to quadriplegics. Her work for Helping Hands holds a special place in her heart. In addition, Dr. Handlin trained monkeys for the thriller movie "Monkey Shines".

Dr. Handlin received her DVM from the University of Missouri where she was a member of the Omega Tau Sigma academic fraternity and graduated with honors. She worked in the pathology lab and as a veterinary assistant while in veterinary school.  She enjoyed her varied experiences and met many wonderful people in Missouri.  Following veterinary school, Dr. Handlin worked in general practice as well as in a 24 hour emergency facility.  Currently, Dr. Handlin practices general medicine and surgery at Glen Animal Hospital.  She is a member of the AVMA and is USDA accredited.  Outside the office, Dr. Handlin is an active volunteer in her daughters' school and serves as Parents Club President.

She enjoys being outdoors and relaxing doing yoga, but her favorite thing is spending time with her husband, 2 beautiful daughters, her Italian Greyhound, turtle and gecko.
