    Elizabeth Tellefsen

    Elizabeth Tellefsen is a Veterinary Technician with Gateway Animal Hospital. Before joining the team at Gateway Animal Hospital in 2007, Elizabeth worked in sales at an animal specialty retail store for three years. During her time in sales, Elizabeth realized that her passion was in pet healthcare. She started out as an assistant cleaning cages and it was her determination and love of animals that swiftly got her to her current technician position, where her hands-on experience has proven to be an invaluable asset to our team. Currently enrolled at Penn Foster College for PC repair and design, Elizabeth is looking forward to her 2016 graduation.

    Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Elizabeth came to Staten Island with her family when she was two. When Elizabeth is not spending time caring for animals, she likes to spend her time gaming, repairing computers, watching football, and attending Broadway musicals. Elizabeth and her fiancé currently reside on the most southern tip of Staten Island with their four cats and three dogs and are planning their wedding in 2015.

    Michael Collins

    Michael Collins is a Veterinary Assistant with Gateway Animal Hospital. In addition to assisting the doctors with each patient, Michael is currently the dietary team leader. He makes certain that all prescription foods are kept on hand for each pet, meeting their specific needs. Before joining the team at Gateway Animal Hospital in 2013, Michael volunteered at the Staten Island Zoo in the Children’s Center. Working primarily in the Children’s Center gave Michael the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with the zookeepers with tasks such as feeding the animals and dealing with their day-to-day needs. The Children’s Center also allowed Michael to greet the children and instruct them on how to interact with the animals. In the summer of 2014, Michael ‘s role with the Staten Island Zoo will transition to exotic animals intern. Currently enrolled at the College of Staten Island as a Nursing major, Michael is also working towards his degree in Veterinary Medicine.

    When Michael is not spending time caring for animals, he enjoys photography, playing paintball, hiking, creating mosaics with sea glass, playing video games, and staying current with his EMT skills. A native Staten Islander, Michael resides on the East Shore of Staten Island with his family.

    Daphne Molina-Samalot

    Daphne Molina-Samalot is a Veterinary Assistant with Gateway Animal Hospital. Before joining the team at Gateway Animal Hospital in 2012, Daphne discovered her love for pet healthcare as a volunteer in Clinica del Este in Puerto Rico from 2005-2009. Currently enrolled at College of Staten Island as a Biology major, Daphne has an ambition of obtaining her Veterinarian degree at Ross University of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts.

    When Daphne is not spending time caring for animals, she enjoys spending her time practicing karate, swimming, listening to music, playing video games, drawing, reading, attending Comic Con, and watching Anime. A native of Puerto Rico, Daphne moved to Staten Island in 2009 with her family and her dog.
