Steve is a wonderful addition to the team at VCA Friendship Pompano Animal Hospital! He is highly intelligent as well as compassionate to all the pets that we care for. The pets love Steve, especially the kitty's!! In his spare time he enjoys music concerts, surfing, skateboarding and spending time with friends and family. He is dedicated to all he does and radiates a positive upbeat attitude.
Why: For as long as I can remember, I’ve had pets. From rabbits and fish to dogs and geckos I’ve loved them all. And like many people, I’ve noticed that there is a special bond that forms between an owner and their pet. It’s more than a simple symbiotic dependency, it’s a familial bond. My current pets, 3 dachshunds named C.C., Lily, and Gigi, have a human air about them; they understand us and take on our qualities. It might seem weird, but I know other people have thought and said similar things about their own pets after having them for some time. I also knew there had to be some truth to this after taking a class in animal behavior. Crows using tools, apes stealing food when a person’s back is turned, and dogs feeling depressed all shed light on the history of our own behaviors and demonstrate that we are not so different from our furry friends. So the next time you say, “I feel like my dog (or cat) understands me,” don’t feel ashamed when you get weird looks. Be proud in the fact that you share a special bond that many people still don’t understand!
