Thank you staff, Dr. Colburn for card
-Jane Genova from New Haven, CT
Pet Name: Carlotta GenovaYour sympathy card with such personalized messages meant so much to me.
Thank you. Here's something I wrote on my blog about your caring:
It's so old-fashioned: snail mail. But it was exactly the right thing at the right time.
Almost every day after my 16. 5 year-old Havana Brown baby Carlotta passed over on February 20th, sympathy cards arrived via the U.S. Postal Service. Some were from readers of this blog who felt the pain of this loss. Some were from colleagues.
One was from VCA Animal Hospital, East Haven, Connecticut, where Carlotta was so gently sent into the night. Each member of the staff wrote a paragraph. The most touching sentiment was from Dr. Linda Colburn. She observed that I had rescued Carlotta from the streets of Manhattan many years ago. Then I again came to her rescue when she had cancer so that she was released from her suffering.
When those I care about lose their four-footed companions, I now know to make the effort to shop for the card, dig inside my own memory bank of loss for the message, find a stamp, and then locate a mailbox. That effort can bring such comfort. -
Gizzi, decided that he wanted to write his own
-Iris from Meridan, CT
Pet Name: GizziMy name is Gizzi. I had a bit of a rough start in life. I was only one week old when I was found abandoned in a driveway. Some nice people found me and brought me over to VCA in East Haven. I was given immediate care my doctors, technicians and anyone else whose heart strings I could pull at. I had such excellent care, that I soon began to thrive. I am told by my caregivers that I was, and am still a bit of a handful. At 10 weeks of age, I was adopted by my human mom. She has taken such good
care of me. I have received all of my shots. I have been neutered and even received a microchip. I have to admit I wasn't even sure what a microchip was, but I don't think you can eat it. Mom, says that I am very mischievous and she felt much better knowing I could be found easily if ever lost. I am very nosy. I have jumped in the refrigerator and
I spend a lot of time looking at the back door, which I am sure must lead to some new adventures. I know I was very lucky to receive such great care, at VCA. Mom, sends her best wishes to all who have nurtured me back to health. She thinks I am the cats meow, and we all know that mother knows best. -
Our Precious Pug
-Marianne Silva from East Haven, CT
Pet Name: HarleyOn 1-8-13 we made the decision to put our pug to sleep after many medical issues escalated with him over the years. While my poor pug was in the middle of seizing at 7:30am I was on the phone trying to find a place I can bring him that early as my own vet, and this facility, didn't open till 9am. [Another animal hospital] had the audacity to start reading me prices for each thing they may have to do and told me they needed the money then and if I couldn't afford it maybe I could phone a family member....I could not believe this. After all of this time, I ended up waiting for this facility to open at 9am. Upon calling the receptionist, Nicole, told me to come right down. As soon as we walked in we were greeted & they immediately paid attention to my dog. Dr. Arad was so very awesome with helping us understand what was happening & giving us the time we needed to say good-bye to our little buddy!!! I would like to thank Dr. Arad, and Omar, who was so sweet & kind to my daughter & I. Even though they see this every day, they made us feel like our dog was one in a million & for that I will be forever grateful!

I will never go anywhere else.
-Shaunna Cullen from New Haven, CTThe staff at VCA Foxon Animal Hospital are hands down the best veterinary office I have ever been to. Not only are they knowledgeable, they are also compassionate and truly care about every singe animal that comes in. Dr. Dielo, the exotic animal vet, was amazing when I had to let go of my rabbit. She not only called me later that week to see how I was coping, but the staff also sent me a card. I always felt like they had time to squeeze me in when I had an emergency and were happy to do so. If you're looking for a place with a caring staff and superb doctors, look no further.

Quick, Low cost and friendly
-CK from New Haven, CT
Pet Name: JadeMy cat Jade needed to be seen by a vet today. I called a few places and these people were the nicest, most accomodating staff I've ever encountered. They have a free first visit coupon (new vet for Jade) and did not have to pay for exam. The treatment course was so resonable, I would refer anyone I know to go here. Thanks again for seeing my cat so soon.

When others care ...
-Jane Genova from New Haven, CT
Pet Name: CarlottaMy 16.5 year old Havana Brown companion Carlotta had gone from okay to hiding, not eating, and not drinking over the weekend. What I had to consider doing doing was obvious. So, I changed her appointment from later in the week for the lump on her side to today.
Dr. Colburn was amazing. She gave me the choice of investigating if the lump might not be cancer - affordably. I jumped at that option. The news was not good. Then we moved on to the inevitable. Both Dr. Colburn and the staff were so caring. That made the difference.
The next few weeks will be hard on me and Carlotta's bestest buddy Jason, coal-black and also 16.5 years old. But I know I did the right thing for Carlotta and Dr. Colburn helped me do that.
Thank you all. -
Dr. Linda Colburn - Cost-effective care for Jason
-Jane Genova from New Haven, CT
Pet Name: JasonI was candid with Dr. Linda Colburn. I explained that after two iffy years for my communications boutique, I was in no position to spend a lot of money finding out what was wrong with my 16-year-old feline Jason. She got it.
The outcome has been that after a low-cost testing procedure, we have ruled out the worst-case scenarios and are treating Jason with antibiotics for a kidney infection. There are no guarantees that he will live to be 100. But now I have the peace of mind that I am doing best by him, without spending money I don't have.
There's a happy ending to the business part of my story. The day I brought Jason in for tests, I acquired two new clients for my business. -
Great Job
-Richard from East Haven, CTThe staff is wonderful and very pleasant. They are all animal lovers and understand when a owners is having a troubled time dealing with a loss of a pet or a very sick animal. I trust everyone there with my dogs. VCA FOXON is a welcoming place! Thanks you all!
