Dr. Emily Schmidt was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan. She completed a bachelor's degree in German from Michigan State University in 2005. She received her DVM from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2011. She then completed a small animal rotating internship at Nashville Veterinary Specialists in Nashville, Tennessee, receiving further training in many specialties and emergency medicine.

Dr. Schmidt is particularly interested in dermatology, feline medicine, and pain management.

In her free time, Dr. Schmidt enjoys cooking, hiking, and traveling. She recently visited Asia for the first time, and hopes to return soon. Dr. Schmidt lives in New Haven with her two cats.
