Dr. Shoko Watanabe, VMD, Staff Veterinarian

Dr. Shoko Watanabe is a native of Tokyo, Japan. She travelled to the United States to study in Claremont, California. There she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Arts from Scripps College. She went on to the University of Pennsylvania, where she received the degree of Veterinary Medical Doctor.
After leaving the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Watanabe completed a General Internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York, New York. During her time in practice, Dr. Watanabe developed a special interest in Oncology and Cancer treatment. She decided to focus her further experience and education in that field, continuing at the Animal Medical Center in New York to participate in an Oncology Internship. After completing her Oncology Internship, Dr. Watanabe went into General Practice. She joined VCA Family Animal Hospital in 2011.
Dr. Watanabe’s next goal is to run the Honolulu Marathon. When not training or working, she enjoys quite time at home with her adopted cat Charlotte.
