Dear Pet Parent,
Thank you for choosing us! We look forward to meeting you and your pet. Together, we'll make sure she stays healthy and happy throughout her life.
VCA Elk Grove Animal Hospital is a member of the largest provider of veterinary health care in the country. This gives our veterinarians access to over 200 board-certified specialists should your pet need specialized care. It gives you access to over 500 nationwide locations that offer the same level of care should your pet need attention while you're traveling, or if you happen to move within the United States.
Before your first visit, please gather any previous medical or adoption records you may have for your pet. Your veterinarian needs this information to get an accurate record of your pet's medical history which is essential to keep up to date on vaccines, testing and previous medical conditions. It can also let us know is your pet has an ongoing condition or if she is on a medication which might impact proposed treatments.
When you visit the hospital, please bring your pet in a carrier or on a leash. This will prevent any incidents with other animals that may also be in the lobby, as well as keep your pet feeling calm and secure. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time so we can have you fill out our new client form. If you are the owner of a pocket-pet (mice, hamsters, rats, guinea pigs, etc.), reptiles or birds, we will have you fill out a husbandry sheet so we can have a better picture of his or her lifestyle.
When it is time for your appointment, one of our Veterinary Technicians will escort you and your pet to an exam room where she will ask you some questions regarding your visit. Weight, temperature, vital signs and a quick check of your pet might happen at this time as well.
When the veterinarian examines your pet, she will take the time to listen and ask questions so she can understand your concerns. She will also perform a comprehensive physical examination of your pet - checking from nose to toes - and will ask you questions about his habits and activities. If your pet is healthy, we can go over ways to keep up that healthy lifestyle. If we find areas of concern, we will always provide a printed treatment plan and explain the choices available; allowing you to make an informed decision to address your pet's needs.
We are excited about meeting you and your pet. We will always strive to provide the level of care that you both deserve.
Should you have any questions about your upcoming visit or procedure, please do not hesitate to call us.
