  • Technician Supervisor

    Marie W.
    Veterinary Tech School: Portland Community College

    Marie was born in Anchorage, Alaska but grew up in Vancouver, WA. She received her Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) degree from Portland Community College. After working in veterinary emergency medicine for some time, Marie made the transition to VCA EMPAH and general practice in July 2009. Shortly thereafter, Marie became the hospital's technician supervisor and oversees EMPAH's veterinary assistants and team of Licensed Veterinary Technicians.


    Marie lives with her wonderful husband, Daniel and their menagerie of animals; two smoosh-faced dogs named Benny and Joon and two tortoiseshell cats named Kira and Delia.


    In her spare time Marie enjoys being with friends, crafting, traveling with her husband and working on their home.
     


  • Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Kelly D.
    Veterinary Tech School: Portland Community College
    School: Colorado State University, BS

    Kelly started working for EMPAH in 2009 as an assistant while completing her Veterinary Technology degree at Portland Community College. She became a licensed veterinary technician in June of 2011. Kelly also holds a BS in zoology and biology from Colorado State University. Kelly loves having the opportunity to work with small animals as well as exotics and pocket pets. She has a particular interest in veterinary dentistry and anesthesia as well as talking with clients about the health of their pets.

    Kelly moved to Portland in 2009 from Colorado. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two “kids”, Tux and Brock exploring the outdoors and all Portland has to offer.
     


  • Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Jamie H.
    Veterinary Tech School: Portland Community College

    Jamie graduated in June 2008 as a Licensed Veterinary Technician from Portland Community College and started at VCA East Mill Plain Animal Hospital shortly thereafter. Her passion is in avian and exotic creatures. Jamie was fortunate to be chosen for an internship at the Portland Zoo after graduation.


    Jamie is very active in wildlife rehabilitation with her favorite critter to rehab being squirrels. You can often find her rehabbing a small army of baby squirrels for release at any given time!  She owns a cockatiel named Einstein, two Russian tortoises named Crush and Wall-E, and a mixed breed dog named Linus
     


  • Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Geoffrey M.
    Veterinary Tech School: Portland Community College
    School: Washington State University, Zoology

    Geoffrey is our newest licensed veterinary technician. He graduated from Portland Community College in 2013 and joined EMPAH shortly after. Geoffrey also has a zoology degree from Washington State University. He started working with animals in 7th grade with the Oregon Zoo ZooTeens program and has continued working with them ever since. Geoffery is contemplating continuing his education to become a veterinarian in the future.

    Geoffrey has three cats.  Piki, Zoey, and Boulos, though Boulos is currently living with his parents. In what little spare time he has he enjoys skiing, hiking, playing saxophone.
     


  • Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Casey T.
    Veterinary Tech School: Portland Community College
    School: Hawaii Pacific University, Marine Biology

    Casey was born and raised in Vancouver, WA. She is our newest Licensed Veterinary Technician joining us in June 2012 after she graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at Portland Community College. Casey also has a degree in Marine Biology from Hawaii Pacific University. 

    Casey has has one old, blind cat named Snickers and two dogs, a rottweiler named Juliette and an Australian Cattle Dog named Kal. In her spare time Casey enjoys gardening, hiking, brewing beer, and dog training. 


  • Veterinary Assistant

    Hillary F.
    School: Clark Community College

    Hillary joined VCA East Mill Plain Animal Hospital in 2007 and has been a valuable part of the team. Aside from her job as an assistant, Hillary does the majority of the inventory ordering for the hospital. In the near future she would like to attend Portland Community College and become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Hillary has a cat named Mira, two rats, and two puffer fish.

    In her spare time, Hillary enjoys music, hiking, and hanging out in Portland.


  • Doctor Assistant

    Krysten L.

    Krysten was born in Idaho and raised in the Vancouver area. Her family has always been a part of the veterinary profession and she loves to see the care and compassion that clients share with their four legged family members.

    She has a 9 year old blue heeler, Bandit, who is her constant companion in all of her adventures.

    Away from work Krysten loves spending time with family, traveling to her family cabin in Idaho, exploring the different Pacific Northwest breweries, and lounging on the beaches down in Key West, Florida.

    Krysten joined EMPAH in March of 2013.
