Kelly Flaminio, DVM, Associate Veterinarian

DVM, Western University of Health Sciences

Biography

Dr. Kelly Flaminio was born and raised in Northern California just outside of San Francisco. She graduated from Miami University in Oxford, OH in 2005 with a BA in Zoology. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Western University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. While in veterinary school, Dr. Kelly made a continual effort to further her education in avian and exotic medicine by volunteering weekly at the Los Angeles Zoo veterinary hospital and working to rehabilitate injured waterfowl and shorebirds at the International Bird Research and Rescue Center in San Pedro, CA. Due to her efforts as a veterinary student, Dr. Kelly was chosen as the recipient of Western University’s Avian Medicine Award and Scholarship in 2008. During her fourth year of veterinary school, she traveled to multiple zoos throughout the United States to gain additional training in avian and exotic animal medicine.

Following graduation, she completed a one year internship in small animal emergency and critical care at DoveLewis Animal Emergency Hospital in Portland, OR. Dr. Kelly then moved to the east coast and completed an additional internship in avian and wildlife medicine at the Wildlife Center of Virginia in Waynesboro, VA.

We are happy to announce that Dr. Kelly Flaminio is now part of VCA East Mill Plain Animal Hospital. She joined us in October 2011 as a member of our doctor team. Dr. Kelly loves all aspects of veterinary medicine, but especially enjoys working with birds and exotic pets. On her days off from VCA EMPAH, she works as a relief veterinarian at the Oregon Zoo. In her leisure time, Kelly enjoys taking advantage of everything the Northwest has to offer, especially skiing and visiting local brew pubs.
