Biography

Dr. Smolen graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1969 and worked in Louisville, Kentucky and Pittsburgh starting VCA Duncan Manor Animal Hospital in June of 1973. Dr. Smolen is one of a group of veterinarians who help establish the Veterinary Emergency Clinic in 1995. Surgery and general patient healthcare are of special interest to Dr. Smolen.

During his free time, Dr. Smolen enjoys fishing, hiking and traveling. Recently he has been involved with the Native American Project and has traveled to several Indian reservations in Arizona to provide veterinary care through spaying and neutering pets, vaccinations, and general care.

Dr. Smolen and his wife have two sons. A Golden Retriever and two cats are also part of the Smolen family. Dr. Smolen enjoys surgery and feline medicine.
