VCA Desert Animal Hospital

Gail Cutler, DVM, Associate Veterinarian

DVM, Michigan State University
MS, Michigan State University

Gail Cutler is a Los Angeles native who spent 20 years enjoying the Michigan seasons. She graduated from Michigan State University with both a Masters in Agricultural Economics and a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.

Although she wanted to be a veterinarian since she was 11 years old, she took a different career path for the first half of her life.  She worked for a non-profit agricultural organization in California, and then was an economic analyst with the Michigan Senate.

Dr. Cutler has worked at VCA Desert Animal Hospital since 2005, and appreciates the serene beauty of the desert. Her areas of interest are general medicine, internal medicine, dermatology, and geriatrics. She is also an IVAS certified veterinary acupuncturist, and has found it to be a rewarding specialty.

When she isn't working, you can find her in her yoga class, hiking, writing (including the "Ask the vet column" for The Desert Sun), or attempting to play golf. Her pets include her dogs Nelly and Quincy, and her cats Orlando, Oliver, and Mamakitty.

Specialty Care

Sometimes sick or injured pets need the care of a veterinary medical specialist. When that happens, VCA specialty hospitals work closely with the general practitioner veterinarians who refer cases to us in order to provide seamless veterinary care to your pet. When your pet is facing any kind of serious illness or injury, our specialty referral hospitals will provide the compassionate and expert care your beloved pet needs.

Our goal is to make sure that when you and your pet are in need that you have access to board certified specialists who are up to date on the very latest developments in their field. In our state of the art hospitals, our specialists also have access to the most sophisticated diagnostic and treatment tools and techniques from ultrasonography and endoscopy to CAT scans and even MRI.

As part of the VCA family, we have over 83 specialty hospitals across the US and Canada which provide referral specialty care, so there may be one near you. Our specialized services include: behavior, cardiology, critical care, dentistry, dermatology, integrative medicine, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, radiology, rehabilitation, reproduction, and surgery.
