Dr. Jim was born and raised in Eugene. He obtained his DVM from Oregon State University in 1988. He has worked in Oregon, and most recently in Santa Monica, California.

Dr. Jim sure loves those cats (he does see dogs, too!). He became board certified in Feline Medicine in 2003. He focuses his continuing education efforts attending feline conferences, to stay informed on the latest information and techniques regarding feline medicine and surgery. He has a special interest in senior feline care, kidney care, and gastrointestinal diseases. 

Dr. Jim enjoys spending time with his family, playing guitar, and anything outdoors on his time off. He lives in Eugene with his wife and Siamese cats.
