Biography

Dr. Melanie Falato’s commitment to caring for pets in a compassionate and quality practice led her to join VCA Cornerstone Animal Hospital in Cary, North Carolina. Her veterinary interests include cardiology, internal medicine and surgery.

A proud graduate of The Ohio State University, Dr. Falato received her Bachelors degree in 2002, with honors, and completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Throughout her education, she worked at several clinics as a Veterinary Assistant to gain experience outside of the university setting.

After graduating, Dr. Falato practiced in Northern Virginia where she perfected her communication skills with clients. In addition to routine appointments and check-ups, she gained exceptional competence in medical case management and general surgery. Within the clinic, she was instrumental in designing and implementing protocols in preparation for the American Animal Hospital Association accreditation.

In the community, Dr. Falato worked with local rescue organizations to create treatment plans for rescued animals, as well as conducted interactive community outreach programs teaching young children basic pet care information and techniques.

In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding with her Thouroughbred Ollie, music, hiking and camping. Dr. Falato lives with her husband Colin, dogs; Piper, Casey, and Harleigh, and cats; Karma and Kaz.
