When fashion designer Alexander McQueen left more than $70,000 (50,000 pounds) for the care of his dogs when he passed, it started quite the discussion. A local insurance company in England recently conducted a survey inquiring if other pet owners are thinking about leaving money for their care as well, according to the AFP.

More than 14,000 pet owners were asked a series of questions and 35 percent of them said that they plan on leaving their pet more than $14,000 (10,000 pounds), the news source states. In addition, 70 percent have already made arrangements about where the pet will live if something were to happen tand 19 percent said that they are going to add a provision to their will for their furry friend.

Individuals who are looking to have this relationship with a dog or cat may want to look into pet adoption, as it could help the hundreds of animals who are currently living in a shelter without a home. In 2010, 19 percent of owned dogs were originally adopted from an animal shelter, according to the Humane Society.
