VCA Columbia Animal Hospital

Veterinary Support

  • Veterinary Assistant

    Jody Hitchcock

Jody was raised in Augusta, Ga. He has worked with animals since he was 18 years old and has been working at VCA Columbia for almost 10 years. He currently splits his time between our practice and a local pet store.

I like pets and the people who own them. No two days are alike. Then there's the satisfaction in knowing you've helped someone with their pet.

  • Veterinary Assistant

    Kristen Hoggard

Kristen was born in Augusta, GA, and has lived here ever since. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2013, and has been working at VCA since then. She currently owns two dogs, Samson and Sebastian, and two cats, Storm and Cheeto, but has owned a variety of different species throughout her lifetime.

I have always adored animals of all shapes and sizes, and I have always wanted to do whatever I could to help them. Combined with a lifelong interest in medicine, my love of animals led me to joining the veterinary field. My work at VCA is allowing me to learn and pursue my dreams of aiding animals, and I hope to share my knowledge with owners so they can care for their beloved pets.

  • Veterinary Assistant

    Amanda-Leigh Starbird

Amanda-Leigh was born and raised in Mission Viejo, California. She has owned and worked with animals from a young age and has remained committed to staying in the animal care field. In high school she was a member of the FFA and raised goats and sheep. In 2012 she graduated from the University of California - Davis with a Bachelors in pre-veterinary Animal Science with an emphasis on behavior. Currently she owns one cat, Bagheera.

As long as I can remember I have loved the company of animals of all types and found them fascinating. I joined the veterinary field because of a deep desire to improve animal welfare and healthcare. I endeavor to pursue this lifelong goal by helping to educate owners and providing the most positive hospital experience for both owners and their pets that I can.
