New Cancer Screening

Hello Coast Clients,
Recent studies have shown that up to 20% of apparently healthy senior pets have some underlying disease. We routinely do bloodwork to detect organ dysfunction but your pet can have a cancerous tumor, bladder stones, heart enlargements or other internal structural abnormalities that can only be detected with x-rays. For this reason pairing x-rays and bloodwork gives you the best early disease detection possible.
VCA has developed an incredible value in a new wellness screening program for senior pets over the age of 7 called the VCA Senior Cancer Screening. It includes the physical exam ($57), Superchem/CBC ($161), thyroid level ($73), urinalysis ($50) and chest and abdominal x-rays ($293) for a bundled price of $299 (retail price is $634 for a total savings of $335). We want to practice the best possible medicine so Coast is now sending all of our x-rays for radiology specialist review for a small $38 fee. This brings the total price is to $337.
In addition, VCA has extended it’s "Best Care Annual Checkup" for pets under the age of 7. This program includes the physical exam ($57), CBC ($72), abbreviated chem. Panel ($89), Urinalysis ($50), heartworm test ($40) and fecal test ($53) for a bundled price of $199 (retail price is $361 for a total savings of $162).
Please call 310-372-8881 to schedule the appointment. Please note that the x-rays take additional time at the visit. Your are welcome to drop your pet off for the x-rays to avoid a long wait time.
At Coast we have done a number of these types of studies and have found anything from masses in the spleen, masses next to the heart, bladder stones and undetected arthritis. We were able to treat the pets before they started feeling "sick" and had a much better response to therapy than we would have if the disease had been detected later.
If you have any questions about these programs, or anything else, don’t hesitate to contact me.
