    Derek Escaranio

    Derek was born and raised in Antioch, California but moved to Oregon in 2003. He started working for VCA in 2004. He primarily works with dogs and cats but sees an occasional rat, ferret, hamster, rabbit, or guinea pig. Although Derek has not attended any veterinary college he has enjoyed learning the field primarily with hands on training. He has had the opportunity to further his skills with CE in the areas of anesthesiology, parasitology, radiology, dentistry, feline and canine preventive care, emergency triage, pain management, and diet and weight management. Within the last five years he has received certification in radiology and parasitology.

    Derek was promoted to Lead Veterinary Assistant and plans to continue his education in the veterinary field by challenging the nationals for his Veterinary Technician's License.
