Biography

Dr. Matthew Baechtel, a Virginia native, did his undergraduate work at the University of Virginia. Afterwards, he attended and graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Dr. Baechtel then spent a few years practicing in small animal surgery and, emergency and critical care. He now brings his experience to VCA Chancellor’s family day practice to focus on strengthening the human animal bond through education on wellness and disease prevention. He has a special interest in cardiology and dermatology. Two golden retrievers and a cat currently cohabitate with Dr. Baechtel and his family. You may see him with his family at a little league game, hiking in the area, or perhaps at the golf course.  " I am here to help strengthen the human/pet bond.  I enjoye working with owners to be the best they can be tp help that relationship."
