Charis Thompson, DVM, Medical Director

DVM, Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine

Biography

Dr. Thompson completed her undergraduate work at the University of Findlay in Ohio before graduating from Virginia Tech's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Dr. Thompson was drawn to veterinary medicine because of an interest in geriatric medicine, soft tissue surgery, and wound management. She truly enjoys getting to know clients and their pets and finds watching the human animal bond grow stronger through the years especially rewarding. Her goal is to be an advocate for the pet which means doing her best to keep them healthy, as well as being there for them when they are sick. Two rescue grey hounds, Alex and Stephi (top notch couch occupiers), and a goofy german shepherd Rohan (top notch grey hound aggitator) make up her dog family. Her three cats, one of which is dubbed the living alarm clock, boss the dogs and Dr. Thompson's family of three. When not at work, she and her family are active in the local congregation of her church.  " Pets offer many rewards to being part of our family, and taking care of them is truly as much a blessing for me as I receive in return from them. "
