For the Summer

On nice warm days, you may be tempted to take your pet with you in the car for a quick ride to the store.  If you do this, please make sure that you never leave your pet in the car, even for a few minutes.  Even if you park in the shade, the interior of your car can act like a greenhouse, easily reaching 120 degrees in just a few minutes, which can cause heatstroke, brain damage, or worse.  And if you do happen to see a pet in a car alone during these hot summer months, make sure you tell the manager of the business right away!

With the 4th of July Holiday right around the corner, there will be lots of fireworks - even in your neighborhood.  Needless to say, Fireworks can be terrifying to some pets.  Please make sure that if you hear fireworks being set-off  you turn your attention to your pets and reassure and comfort them.  Some pets get scared enough that they may try to runaway so make sure your pets always have a proper ID or microchip.  If you are concerned about the way your pets are reacting to Fireworks, make sure you let us know ahead of time and we will help your pet with a mild sedative if the stress of the holiday is too much.  Give us a call today to discuss the best way for your pet to celebrate the holiday with you!

Specialty Care

Sometimes sick or injured pets need the care of a veterinary medical specialist. When that happens, VCA specialty hospitals work closely with the general practitioner veterinarians who refer cases to us in order to provide seamless veterinary care to your pet. When your pet is facing any kind of serious illness or injury, our specialty referral hospitals will provide the compassionate and expert care your beloved pet needs.

Our goal is to make sure that when you and your pet are in need that you have access to board certified specialists who are up to date on the very latest developments in their field. In our state of the art hospitals, our specialists also have access to the most sophisticated diagnostic and treatment tools and techniques from ultrasonography and endoscopy to CAT scans and even MRI.

As part of the VCA family, we have over 83 specialty hospitals across the US and Canada which provide referral specialty care, so there may be one near you. Our specialized services include: behavior, cardiology, critical care, dentistry, dermatology, integrative medicine, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, radiology, rehabilitation, reproduction, and surgery.
