Dr. Spellman was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri.  She worked at an animal hospital and an animal shelter from a young age and knew that she wanted to go into veterinary medicine. She attended Iowa State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree and then went on to Purdue University where she earned her doctorate of veterinary medicine in 2011. 

Dr. Spellman had a sister attending college in Houston and when she visited her sister she thought Houston would be a cool place to live.  She moved to Houston after graduating from Purdue and began her veterinary career at Montrose Veterinary Clinic where she worked for four years.

Dr. Spellman practiced at our hospital as a relief doctor for one year and then in April of 2018 she became a full-fledged member of the team at VCA Champions Northwest Animal Hospital.
