Our Pittsburgh Animal Hospital

VCA Castle Shannon Animal Hospital provides full-service routine care for dogs and cats as well as critical care and emergency services. The hospital has a doctor and support staff on the premises 24 hours a day, every day. As a 39-year member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), the staff of VCA Castle Shannon takes great pride in surpassing over 900 standards of care designed to assure the highest levels of patient care and client service required to be a member of AAHA. Only 17% of the animal hospitals in the US and Canada have achieved this accreditation after voluntarily agreeing to rigorous on-site inspections.

The hospital employs 12 doctors and 36 support staff. Thirty-nine members of the staff have been employed at VCA Castle Shannon three years or longer, 11 have been employed there 10 years or longer.

The hospital itself has been in existence since the 1940s, operating under several veterinarian owners, and is very well known and respected in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas. The hospital became part of the VCA family in 1995.
