Dean Severidt, DVM, Medical Director
Iowa State University
My name is Dr. Dean Severidt and I am the new Medical Director at VCA Briarcliff Animal Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. I grew up on a farm in Iowa. I always had a desire to be a farm animal veterinarian and after a year atConcordia College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I came back to Iowa State University and graduated with my DVM degree. in 1979. I practiced farm animal medicine for 3 years but realized my passion was small animal medicine.
After graduation I went in to practice in Marshalltown, Iowa and practiced small animal medicine from 1979 until 2000. At that time I sold the practice and moved to Jacksonville, FL. I purchased the Total Pet Complex in Jacksonville, FL and Ponte Vedra, FL in 2001. I did a complete rebranding of the clinics in 2005 and changed the name to Pet Doctors of America. I ran Pet Doctors of America from 2005 until I sold it in 2011. I then went to work as Chief of Staff for Banfield Pet Hospital until I had an opportunity to join VCA. My goals are the same as they always have been when I owned my practices and that is to offer state of the art veterinary medicine and make the client experience for the client and their pet so enjoyable that they become life time clients. By focusing on the client experience I have been able to significantly grow all the practices I owned as well as the two practices I was involved in with Banfield. I am the father of 4 children and 5 grandchildren all residing in the Jacksonville area. I enjoy running and practicing yoga and when time permits golfing. I look forward to a new set of challenges as I work with the staff and clients here at VCA Briarcliff.
