Many patients are referred to VCA Braelinn Village Animal Hospital by their regular veterinarian or an emergency clinic. To schedule an appointment please call (770) 486-0077 to speak with one of our courteous receptionists. They would be delighted to assist you in scheduling a convenient and timely consultation.
What to Expect on Your First Visit
Please plan on arriving 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time in order to provide us with pertinent information regarding you and your pet. Be sure to bring along any other relevant information about your pet's condition, such as a referal form (which is to be filled out by your regular veterinarian), all recent blood work and radiographs, as well as a list of the medication(s) and food your pet is currently receiving.
Please be aware that your pet may need to be fasted (not fed) prior to the scheduled appointment time. Fasting not only increases the accuracy of certain blood tests but also is necessary for all procedures performed under sedation or general anesthesia. Our receptionists will give you the fasting instructions and any other important information you may need when they call to confirm your appointment.
If your pet is unable to walk into the building without assistance, we are happy to have a technician meet you at your car and help bring your pet inside.
Once you arrive for your consultation appointment, our receptionists will ask for your contact information and your pet's pertinent history. When your pet is taken into an Examination Room, the doctor's technical staff obtains a brief history from you and record your pet's weight and other vital signs. Once the doctor performs a thorough physical exam of your pet and has reviewed the prior diagnostics performed at your family veterinarian's office, he or she will explain the diagnostic and treatment options available for your pet. A customized, detailed treatment plan outlining cost will be presented for review and we will acquire your consent prior to performing any extensive diagnostic tests or treatments. Please plan to spend about an hour for your initial consultation appointment and about half an hour for your recheck appointments.
Whenever possible, please give us 24 hours notice if you are not able to keep your appointment. To assist you in rescheduling your appointment, our receptionists are available 7am – 8pm Monday – Friday, 8am - 2pm Saturday, and 2pm – 4pm on Sunday.
Cost of Care
As a premiere veterinary specialty hospital, VCA Braelinn Village Animal Hospital is staffed by top-notch veterinarians and a board-certified surgeon with a well-trained team of customer care representatives, licensed veterinary technicians, and veterinary assistants who all work together to meet your pets' needs. Our equipment and technology is state-of-the-art and is routinely upgraded as technology improves. We provide a level of sophistication that can only be found in the most advanced and progressive veterinary hospitals in the world. We understand the strong bond that our clients have with their pets, and we realize they are part of the family. We strive to provide this exceptional care at reasonable cost.
When you schedule your initial consultation, you will receive an explanation of the associated fees. The need for additional diagnostics and treatments may not be known prior to this consultation. Once your pet has been evaluated by one of our doctors, you will receive an assessment of your pet's treatment options, and an estimation of cost allowing you to make an informed decision on how to proceed with your pet's care.
Please share all of your questions and concerns regarding costs with your doctor or technician before treatment begins. It is important that your medical team have a clear understanding of your wishes before any course of treatment is undertaken, as this minimizes any misunderstandings. However, because of the unpredictable nature of some conditions, the course of treatment and outcome, along with costs, cannot be fully predicted. In the event that the services needed exceed the treatment plan, we will make every effort to keep you informed of the additional care and cost.
Payment is required at the time of services. If you are leaving your pet for further diagnostics, treatments or surgery, a deposit of one half of the low end of the estimate may be required. Payment for services is expected at the time of discharge.
