    Veterinary Tech School: Blue Ridge Community College

    Mary, a 8 year veteran in the animal health care industry, recently received her veterinary technician degree and license through Blue Ridge Community College's Distance Education program. A believer in lifelong learning, she also holds degrees in Fine Art, Photography, History and Business Administration. She enjoys reading, jogging, and travel, especially to U.S. National Parks and Europe, scrapbooking her travels, baking goodies and bread and art history . She shares her home with her husband and three cats: Rosie, Rugby and Sebastian. Mary is the official Boulevard Animal Hospital photographer and has taken most of the photos featured on our website.`

    Shannon Beth .

    Before she joined VCA she had 11 years assistant/tech and ER/ONCO tech experience. She has been with VCA now for a year. Her current animal companions include 2 dogs: Max, the pit bull and Coach- the Vizsla and 2 cats Prada, a DSH and Fendi, the Siamese. Interests outside of work include camping with her 8 month old son and her dogs, and being a mommy!!!!

    Angel .

    Angel has worked at another vet for a summer before joining us. She has been with VCA now for a year. She also has about 10 year’s customer service experience, as well as, 3 associates in sociology, science, general education, and a career readiness certificate from the state of VA. Her current animal companions include: Gracie- Manx,  Patch- whippet,  Mini- minpin  and Haze- the outside kitty. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, watching movies, spending time with loved ones.

    Her experience previous to this job was Riverside Hospital Transportation; Ft. Eustis Hospital as cleaner; Animal Clinic of Williamsburg as vet assistant; and Blvd Animal Hospital with Dr. Murphy as a Vet Assistant. She has been with Blvd Animal Hospital for almost 30 years. Her current animal companions is Duchy the cat ; Chloe and Camay the puppy dogs. Her interests outside of work involve taking care of clients who have become older; garage sales, house work, shopping, dog shows and exhibits.

    Evie has been with VCA for almost 11 years. Her specific roles in hospital include dealing with difficult cats, behavioral problems in cats, diabetes and diabetic training with clients, and hospital repairs. Her current animal companions includeTinker, Charlie, Harley, Casey, Josie, Winnie, Wally, Beaver, Punkie, Sophie(Felines), Herman (Parrot), Wilma and Fred (Finches) and Fish. Her interests outside of work include home repair, yard work, work with plants, car repair, cat and bird shows.

    She has worked as a veterinary assistant since 2004. Prior to that she worked in the kennels at boarding/training facilities.She has been with VCA now for 2 years. Her specific roles include assisting in exam rooms, getting vital signs from pets and talking to pet parents before the Veterinarian see’s them. She enjoys talking to people and caring for their animals. Her current animal companions include her cats! There is Beanie, Frodo, Scully, Lula, Cloud…and a foster “child”, a kitten named Dita Boo. Interests outside of work  include  cooking and baking- baked brie and dessert pies are her favorite to make. She enjoys going to see local bands play. On the weekends her and her husband love going to the beach.
