Receptionist SupervisorJuanita Venable
Juanita, our receptionist supervisor, began working here at VCA Boulevard Animal Hospital in 1986. She started in kennels as a kennel assistant, moved into the treatment area working as an technician assistant and finally made her way to her favorite place in the hospital, the front desk. Juanita loves visiting with long term clients and making new friends with new clients who visit our hospital. Juanita spends her free time working in her garden and spending time with her two children Devon and Alana. Juanita also shares her time with her two dogs, a cat and a duck.
Amber started volunteering at York Veterinary Hospital when she was 15 years old because she was interested in becoming a veterinarian. She volunteered for 6 months every weekend until she turned 16 and was hired on for kennel help during the summer and after school. She eventually worked her way thru the hospital as kennel help, an assistant, and then receptionist. She has been with VCA now for 4 years. Her current animal companions are: Roscoe, a 7yr old Lab and Lizzie, a 4yr old Bearded Dragon. In her free time, she has 3 children that keep her busy: Allison 18, Katherine 14, and Alexis 13. She is constantly on the run with them and loves spending quality time with family and friends. She enjoys watching movies, reading, listening to music, crafts and walking trails at the park or the neighborhood with her dog Roscoe.
Marsha has been with VCA now for a year. She is also a Certified Dog Obedience Instructor! Her current animal companions include Hope, the Boston Terrier, Yoda, the American Staffordshire Terrier and Stan, the Ball Python. Her interests outside of work include playing with her dogs, spending time with her family, reading , and going to the beach.
Her experience previous to this job was a responsible and motivated Animal Care Specialist with more than 6 years experience in animal care and husbandry at Andersons Corner Animal Hospital, Animal Eye Care & Denbigh Animal Hospital. She is skilled in veterinary care, surgery and emergency care along with implementing care protocols and action plans for exotic and domestic species. Her current animal companions include Rascal a 5 year old black lab mix who is an expert swimmer and tennis ball chaser. Sydney is a 8year old black cat who loves to lay around on the patio and look at the birds. Her interests outside of work involves singing/playing piano and leading the music and teen program at her church. She has coached girl’s high school volleyball for 6 years, and she played in college at Mid-Atlantic Christian University. She also has a column on Wydaily.com and am on 92.3FM The Tide where she post deals and freebies. She loves fishing, kayaking and spending time outside with my husband, Jay and son, Corbin.
