Kristi was born in upstate New York and moved to Florida when she was nine years old. In her free time she likes to read, go to the beach, and go to the zoo. She has two amazing little boys named Xavier who is six, and Jacob who is 10 months. They have a dog named Rex and two cats, Smokey and Cookie.

Why I come to work everyday

I do this job because I’ve always had a love for animals. I grew up taking care of all types of animals and working in this profession allows me to make a career out of what I love. I am very fortunate that I can get up everyday knowing I’m making a difference in my life and the animals lives.

  • Technician

    Mona McKechan

My name is Mona and I was born in New York.  I lived in the Poconos for most of my life before moving to Boca Raton 12 years ago to be closer to my family.  I'm the proud mother of two children.  Adam, who is 20 years old, and a student at FAU and Aaliyah, who is 12 years old, getting ready for the 8th grade.  When I'm not working I can be found either playing tennis, working out at the gym or going shopping.  I have 3 cats Doc, Wilson and Nina who mean the world to me.

    Why I come to work

Ever since childhood I've had a passion for animals and always told my dad I wanted to grow up and do something that allowed me to get up everyday, go to work and be able to help those that are sick get better while throwing in some tender loving care at the same time.  Being at VCA I get to do all that and then some.  I love this line of work and all the excitement and challenges that each day brings.  Helping animals is my dream and VCA helps me fulfill it!

Why I come to work everyday

To see the look of thank you in a cat or dogs eyes for helping them and for loving them. It’s a great job!
