Rick Albrecht is the Hospital Manager for Bay Ridge Animal Hospital.

Rick received his undergraduate degree in Animal Science from the University of Delaware. He started his career in the veterinary industry as an assistant. He then sharpened his skills and worked several years as a technician. Rick has worked in several departments including General Practice, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, ICU/Critical Care, Emergency/Triage, and Surgery.

He was considering changing careers and returned to school and received his Master's degree in Science and Environmental Education. Rick taught second grade for one year, but realized that a traditional classroom setting wasn't for him. Plus there were no dogs to play with in school! He returned to the veterinary field and worked in several different administrative roles at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists and the Animal Specialty Center where he has served as Referral Coordinator, Charge Capture Analyst, and Training Manager. He has worked on several different community outreach projects, coordinated Continuing Education events for Veterinarians and Technicians, expanding VCA's social media presence, and many other projects.

Rick lives in Brooklyn with his wife and son.

Specialty Care

Sometimes sick or injured pets need the care of a veterinary medical specialist. When that happens, VCA specialty hospitals work closely with the general practitioner veterinarians who refer cases to us in order to provide seamless veterinary care to your pet. When your pet is facing any kind of serious illness or injury, our specialty referral hospitals will provide the compassionate and expert care your beloved pet needs.

Our goal is to make sure that when you and your pet are in need that you have access to board certified specialists who are up to date on the very latest developments in their field. In our state of the art hospitals, our specialists also have access to the most sophisticated diagnostic and treatment tools and techniques from ultrasonography and endoscopy to CAT scans and even MRI.

As part of the VCA family, we have over 83 specialty hospitals across the US and Canada which provide referral specialty care, so there may be one near you.
