VCA Bay Area Animal Hospital

Tammy Maggy, DVM, Associate Veterinarian

DVM, Michigan State University

Dr. Maggy is a "recent" California transplant, having moved here February, 2000 from her home state of Michigan, where she lived and practiced in the Detroit Metro area. She received a BS in Biology at Saginaw Valley State University before being accepted to the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in 1989. After graduating, she began her career in emergency medicine for Professional Veterinary Hospitals, a 15- hospital group that eventually became part of the VCA family. After an injury in 1995 forced her to give up doing surgical procedures, she shifted gears to more general and preventative care medicine, with a particular interest in Dermatology and some behavior issues. While she is not a specialist in those areas, she does enjoy working with those cases specifically separation anxiety and general anxiety issues in dogs. Dr. Maggy has been with the VCA family since April 2003. Her family includes a 12 year old Maltese, Destiny, who rules the roost, a 4 year old domestic medium hair cat named Harry Potter (AKA Lord Voldemort), an 8 year old male Newfoundland named Tigger, an 18 month old Newfoundland named Earth Angel, and two other Newfoundlands who frequently visit named Rain and Autumn. In her free time, she enjoys many crafts, party planning, and shopping for her nieces and nephews.
