Technician ManagerAmy Pero
Amy has been a Registered Veterinary Technician since September 2006. She has worked in the veterinary field since July 2002. She has a special interest in Emergency and Critical Care and Physical Rehabilitation. Amy has a B.A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology from St. Petersburg College. She is also the Hospital Safety Officer and our Technician Manager. In her free time Amy enjoys gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family. She has three dogs: Hercules, Georgia, and Daisy Lou and a cat, Master Vandervooven.
Technician SupervisorKayla Corzine
Kayla is originally from Orange County. Her family relocated to Red Bluff. She obtained her associates degree, focusing on courses to become a veterinary technician. Kayla joined VCA Asher Animal Hospital in 2008. Her favorite part of working in veterinary medicine is the satisfying feeling she gets from providing care to the patients we see, and the connections she makes with our patients and their families. It brings her real joy to be part of a patients road to recovery from injury or illness. She is really interested in emergency medicine, surgery, and critical care. Kayla loves the outdoors, camping, fishing, music festivals, dancing, and most of all time with her daughter.
Technician SupervisorMarie Hawkins
Marie started with VCA Asher Animal Hospital in 1999. Her first few years, she was our overnight Animal Care Technician. She has filled about every shift in the schedule and currently works our busy weekends. Marie has grown into a key member of the hospital team and is currently a Technician/Veterinary Assistant Supervisor.
Technician SupervisorDustin Johnson
Dustin attended Shasta College and joined our team in 2007. He is a veterinary assistant and Shift Supervisor. What he enjoys most about working in the veterinary field is client education, and emergency/critical care. More recent interests are patient rehabilitation, physiotherapy and pet nutrition. He enjoys comic books in his spare time. He has 2 cats, Alice and Bab's.
Technician SupervisorChristine Lemon
Christine has been around veterinary medicine all of her life, as her father is a veterinarian. She attended Butte College in Chico, with an emphasis on criminology. She relocated to Redding with her husband, and joined VCA Asher Animal Hospital in 1999. Currently, Christine is a technician supervisor. Christine loves spending time with her two boys and husband, camping, boating, watching her boys play baseball, and assisting in local 4-H community service events. She has a cat, Linus and a dog, Mater.
Registered Veterinary TechnicianMelisa Bixler
Melisa is originally from Napa, and relocated to Redding in 2004. She graduated from Shasta College with an Associate in Veterinary Technology. Melisa joined VCA Asher Animal Hospital in 2008 and became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2014. For Melisa, the best part of working in a veterinary hospital is being able to provide care to animals. It is really rewarding to be involved in caring for pets that are sick or injured and see them through the process of getting well again and returning them to their family happy and healthy. Melisa enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her husband and three girls and her pets. She has three dogs, Copper, Lexi, and Pooka, and two cats, Rosco and Pearl, and a gecko named Boo. When she can fit time in, she also likes to scrapbook.
Registered Veterinary TechnicianJackie Lawrence
Jackie started as a Veterinary Assistant in Nashville, Tennessee in 1995. She moved to Redding and started at VCA Asher Animal Hospital in 2003. She was licensed as a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2008. Her interests are in wound management, surgery, patient care, and employee/client relations. When she is not working, Jackie enjoys hiking in the mountains of Northern California. She has also recently developed a special interest in horsemanship. Jackie has many four legged kids which include eight horses, two dogs, three llamas, two cats, four chickens, five sheep, two tortoises, and one box turtle.
Registered Veterinary TechnicianKrys Taylor
Krys attended Veterinary Allied Staff Education in 2007. She became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2008. She has worked for VCA for 11 yrs. She spent the first 9 years in the Sacramento area, at Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center, and joined our team in 2012. As an RVT, Krys enjoys the role she has in animal healing, patient welfare, and research. She loves learning about old and new disease processes as well as critical care nursing. Her professional goals include completing her degree, growing her leadership skills and eventually becoming part of a management team. Krys enjoys spending quality time with her daughter Lily, her boyfriend Mark and his family, as well as her close family and friends. Her hobbies include paddle boarding, hiking, camping, fishing, playing tennis, and watching the San Francisco Giants! Het cat's name is Ferdie.
