  • Always Room

    -Arthur Field from Fallbrook, CA
    Pet Name: Austin

Although I live in Fallbrook, I have always taken my dogs to see Dr. Gordon as he was recommended to me because of his holistic approach to disease. I will tell you about my last dog Austin, who was 16 years old when he passed away this year. Last year, I had a terrible scare with Austin. Austin was choking in the middle of the night so I took him to the local emergency hospital. The vet there told me he had a major heart problem and that she would have to operate immediately. I was not comfortable with this, so I picked Austin up and took him the next day to a specialist in the area. After an ultrasound, the second vet found a different problem (with his adrenal gland) and said that Austin would need surgery on this tumor within the week. By that time, Austin was in terrible shape and very weak. He was coughing all the time, and not eating. I called Dr. Gordon at Arroyo and he said to bring Austin in immediately. I had to literally carry the dog in. Dr. Gordon ran a battery of tests. He showed me the x-rays and explained to me that, although Austin did have these other problems the specialists were concerned about, the real reason Austin was not doing well was that Austin had very severe pneumonia. I am not sure how Dr. Gordon did it, but after a day in the hospital with IV fluid therapy, IV antibiotics, acupuncture, and other treatments, Austin was able to walk out of the animal hospital! He went on to live for another 18 months and was happy and healthy until the end.

  • ALWAYS THERE FOR OUR DOGS AND US

-Dave and Franca from San Clemente, CA
Pet Name: Wrangler, Luke and Zak

Pet Image Our testimonial could be a novel, so we're keeping it short and sweet. Dr. Gordon has shown all of our dogs the best loving care, whether its basic wellness, acupuncture or surgery, we know our dogs are in the best hands. For us, Dr. Gordon takes the time to talk and explain everything and then answer all our questions, no matter when we think of them. In the end it comes down to trust -- and Dr. Gordon is who we trust to take care of our boys.

  • Total Appreciation

-Marcia Leong from Mission Viejo, CA

It is my pleasure to share how grateful I feel to VCA Arroyo for the loving care that my two dogs and four kitties have received during the past four years. I have had my share of emergencies and, each time, my pet was examined immediately and had the best and kindest attention humanly possible. I am also confident that this same level of gentle care and handling is exhibited in the treatment area as well. I appreciate Dr. Gordon, Dr. Holden and the other doctors at this hospital beyond words.

  • I Want to Share My Experience

-Sandra Medock from Laguna Hills, CA
Pet Name: Barkley, Bridgett, Peaches, Felina, Toby, Charlie

I had a little wheelchair dog who was running out of options. Traditional vet care was no longer working. Dr. Gordon approached Barneys issues on a more holistic level. We started vitamin therapy and weekly acupuncture. The results were amazing. His condition became manageable. Barney was up and rolling for another 3 years. Barney has crossed the rainbow bridge and I am forever grateful for the care and compassion of the staff at VCA Arroyo Animal Hospital. I now have nine rescued furry friends and I totally entrust their well-being to Arroyo. This is a beautiful facility and the level of care your pet receives is beyond excellent. I will never go anywhere else.

  • When you need the very best

-Lori H. from San Juan Capistrano, CA
    Pet Name: Blanca

I love VCA Arroyo! Dr. David Gordon is the Director and has been there the entire time they've been open. Dr. Gordon is so thoroughly dedicated to his Clientele and their humans. I have taken my kitties to him for the last 17 yrs. Dr. Gordon is well versed in holistic care and will balance that with regular "western" medicine when necessary. This is really integrative medicine. Dr. Gordon is a very peaceful and gentle person and so is his staff. I have had to let two of my kitties go at his place and they have always, always been so incredible. One of my kitties lived 17 and 1/2 yrs. and she just left me last week. Dr. Gordon was not available but another one of his Doctors, Lisa Buehler, DVM, was. Dr. Buehler could not have been kinder or more gentle with my fur baby India. She did everything under the sun to help save her life but in the end, heart disease and kidney disease were just too much and it was time to let her go. Dr. B. was amazing - caring, gentle, quiet, peaceful and supportive. She gave us all the time we needed to say good-bye. She is a real kitty doctor and I would, without hesitation, refer others to her and to Dr. Gordon. The front office staff are as equally wonderful, Stephanie, Diane, Tara & Loren... the best. The Technicians in the back are superb... Destiny, Brian, James, ... and more. The Team is fantastic and the place is clean and state of the art. And on top of that, Dr. Gordon also has another, very special Doctor with him, Dr. Adam Lassin, DVM. Dr. Lassin is also trained and certified in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Lassin is amazing with kitties. Have you ever seen a kitty get acupuncture... well, I have and he did it with calm confidence and gentleness. My kitty even got one on the nose and she just let it stay there. The entire time Dr. Lassin was talking to me, he was calmly stroking my kitty, putting her at ease. She wasn't scared, which was really weird... kinda like a Dr. Doolittle thing in a way. Dr. Lassin has also seen my feisty little kitty who is also 17 and 1/2 and she didn't even hit him. She was also calm. It is really interesting to see someone exude some kind of calm that impacts animals... and in turn calms their humans. I trust the Doctors and the staff and I definitely put them to the test. I am not your average customer, I am demanding (hopefully in a polite way) and they always meet my needs.

So, as you can tell, these are my fur kids doctors and I really, really like them and respect how caring and wonderful they are. I think you'll like them too!

  • Thank you, Dr. Holden

-Melissa Litster from Lake Forest, CA
    Pet Name: Cammie

I switched to VCA Arroyo after having a series of negative experiences with my former vet, which left me with a lack of confidence in my dog's future medical care (as well as my diabetic cat's-another story ^-^). My dog had a Grade 1 tumor on her head which needed to be removed. Cammie fell under the care of Dr. Holden at VCA Arroyo, and fast forward to today, when she just got her stitches out. Cammie's her same waggy self. I found Dr. Holden's professional yet personal client interaction to be excellent. I felt immediately at ease with her and confident enough for her to perform surgery on my dog. I was not disappointed. She is very sharp and very easy to communicate with. She told me all I needed to know about my dog's condition and very graciously answered all my questions. Cammie gives two paws up - thank you, Dr. Holden.

  • Dexter ,Thor and the rest of the Clan

-sandra mahanna from San Clemente, CA
    Pet Name: Thor aka Bookitty

Pet Image I've known Dr. Gordon for nearly 20 years. In that time I've had to say goodbye to 3 of my pets, two in just the last few months, Dexter and Thor. while extremely sad, I know they were in the best of hands.Dr. Gordon's combination of holistic and medical applications to situations is the best, for our animal companions, in my opinion. And his honest and straight forward manner of explaining the options and outcomes makes it easy to trust him and builds confidence in his clients. I trust him to give my pets the best care possible and as a former Zookeeper, would not hesitate to recommend VCA Arroyo Animal Hospital to anyone.

  • Just by Luck...

-Jessica Conner from Aliso Viejo, CA
    Pet Name: Ernie and Jazmine

Pet Image I just found this amazing place! I found them on the internet and made an appt originally because they were open so late. Within 2 weeks I ended up having to bring both my cats in. And now I will never go anywhere else. Unfortunately I had to let go of my 17 year old cat, Ernie. Dr. Holden was awesome with him and with me. I appreciate so much her compassion and concern. The entire staff was so caring. It was the best place for me to spend the worst day...
I appreciate it more than you could ever know. I look forward to our future relationship when the time is right for me to bring another love into my heart...
