Eva DeCozio, DVM, Medical Director

Dr. Eva DeCozio is a native of Michigan, but moved to Europe during school when her dad’s job was relocated. She graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, Austria, and then completed a six month mixed animal internship in Europe. She then moved back to the U.S. and took part in a small animal internship at Mesa Veterinary Hospital in Mesa, Arizona. After her internship DeCozio was a Resident of Pathology at the University of Pennsylvania and received her ECFVG certification from Oklahoma State University. After school, she return to Arizona in 1999 as an Associate Veterinarian with VCA Apache Junction Animal Hospital and advanced to Medical Director in 2004.

Dr. DeCozio founded the Panacea Animal Wellness Sanctuary, a charitable organization to end senseless euthanasia in Arizona and educate the public on the importance of preventative care in 2009. In 2014, she received the Hero Vet award from the American Humane Association and has served on the Arizona Cardinals Community Quarterback Works committee since 2010.

Dr. DeCozio is the mother of a 16-year-old son, many Chihuahuas, a Jack Russell terrier, four large dogs, seven cats, four horses, three tortoises, and 13 chickens. Her interests include animal related activities, her son’s high school football, and football in general.
