VCA Annandale Animal Hospital

Deann Ashby, DVM, Medical Director

DVM, St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine

Biography

Dr. Ashby joined the team at VCA Annandale as a Relief Veterinarian in September 2012 and loved it so much that she joined us full time as our Medical Director in February 2013.  Her professional interests include ultrasound, surgery  and exotic medicine.  Her favorite things about veterinary medicine are connecting with her patients and giving them the best care possible.  At the end of the day she most enjoys seeing her patients go home healthy and healed, with the families that love them.

In her free time she loves salsa dancing, painting, photography and karaoke. She also relaxes by spending time with her niece and nephew and going to the beach.

VCA Annandale is proud to have her as a leader for our medical team.

"Every day I come to work because I want to protect the interests of our pets who do not have the ability to speak for themselves.  Since I was a young girl at the tender age of three I felt the need to heal, protect and care for animals.  This began with my first lab puppy.  Through my curiosity of what makes a pet work, both physically and emotionally, I decided to become a veterinarian.  This was so I could know as much as possible, in order to be in the best position to assist when things go wrong, or even better, to prevent them from going wrong in the first place.  My patient's comfort and well being are my primary concern at all times.  I hope to do this through strengthening the bond between owners and their pets, by giving them as many options as possible so they can protect their loved ones." - Dr. Deann Ashby
