Hometown Care at Animal Health Center

Animal Health Center is now on Facebook! Like us to see what is happening. Our veterinary hospital serves Saratoga County, Halfmoon, Clifton Park and Cohoes. We have been a proud member of the Clifton Park community for the past 18 years and are open 6 days a week with extended weekday hours. We have 4 full time Veterinarians and expanded hours including evening appointments and Saturday hours. We treat all your small family companions including exotics pets. We are committed to being in the forefront of the latest medical and surgical advances and our proud to be accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), which is one of the highest honors an animal hospital can achieve.

We strive to ensure that every pet is handled with the utmost care. Here at Animal Health Center, all our patients have blood work done prior to anesthesia. This allows us to make sure that there are no undetected conditions that could compromise your pet's health. During anesthesia, your pet will have an IV catheter, fluids, and close monitoring by our technicians. Our level of care will ensure the best possible outcome, and help ease your mind.

We believe that spaying and neutering to be an important part of health care for your pet, so we participate in several community programs, offer our own puppy/kitten packages to make this a possibility for all. In addition, we offer financing for veterinary care through Care Credit. This application is easy and quick to apply for, can be done in our office or from your own home and can be used for routine veterinary care as well as emergencies.

When you go on vacation, Animal Health Center is a safe place, filled with familiar faces, that will give your pet the closest attention. Do you have one of those dogs that needs constant stimulation? Do you have a new puppy in your family that needs socialization? Do you have an older pet that needs to go out more often than they used to? If any of these apply to you, rest easy, because we also have day care for your pet! You can drop off your pet on your way to work, and we'll care for them during the day in our newly renovated doggy daycare/boarding facility.

We are looking forward to meeting you and your furry friend!

Local Medical Issues

Canine influenza virus (CIV) causes a respiratory infection in dogs that is often referred to as canine influenza. CIV is a relatively new virus, so almost all dogs are susceptible to infection when they are newly exposed because they have not built up natural immunity. Most dogs that develop CIV infection have a mild illness, but some dogs get very sick and require treatment.

There is an effective and safe vaccine for canine influenza fully licensed by the USDA. Nobivac® Canine Flu H3N8 has been shown to control the spread and minimize the impact of CIV infection and has been proven safe in half a million dogs.

Animal Health Centers commitment to ensure your pets health and safety will require this vaccine prior to boarding or participating in doggy day care.

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) sets the standard for quality veterinary care for companion animals. As an accredited hospital, we voluntarily uphold the Association's high standards in 18 different areas and are routinely evaluated on over 900 different standards of veterinary care. Not all animal hospitals are accredited, and we are proud to be amongst only 12-15% of veterinary hospitals that hold this honor.
