Homeopathy Testimonial

April 2014

April’s Topic of the month is Homeopathy.  The key concepts to homeopathy are to strengthen the body’s natural defense mechanism and not suppress the symptoms, the goal is not to treat the disease (symptoms) but cure it, treatment is based on symptoms not the disease name, and remedies are made from dilute forms of plants, minerals, or animal extracts.  In addition we use diagnostic tests and conventional medication when indicated.
Fortunately, homeopathics are relatively safe compared to conventional medications.  Their uses are to treat the same symptoms as conventional medications: shock, anxiety, pain, trauma, allergies, colitis, fever, cold symptoms, dermatitis, and psychological (anxiety, aggression, insecurity, irritability).

Jennie Albee, mom of Ryder and Swagger has been using homeopathy with them since they were kittens.  Here is what she had to say about going natural with her pets.

I have been bringing my cats Ryder and Swagger to VCA animal hospital since I
got them. I have never dealt with such an amazing group of people. They are so kind and helpful. They take into consideration everything that you have to say when determining a diagnosis. They even call you at home to check on your babies to see how they are doing!!! I have never even had a doctor do that for me, let alone a vet. I feel confident every time I walk through the door that everyone is going to love on my pet and make them feel comfortable, which in turn makes me feel comfortable.

I have had the opportunity to sit with all three doctors, and the skill amongst them is unwavering. I decided to treat my pets holistically because it is my job to decide, what they eat, and what drugs ect are administered through their tiny little bodies and I feel it's my responsibility to give them the best, most natural care available.  I frequently use homeopathics with Ryder and Swagger, and I would not have it any other way.

Nature and everything it has to offer has been used for medicinal purposes for hundreds of thousands of years and has continued to work as effectively now as it did then. They aren't constantly trying to "reinvent" it. Or perfect it, or creating something new just to get us to spend money. Not to mention, if the right thing isn't picked the first time, you don't have a list of side effects that come along with it. If I wouldn't put it in my body, I certainly wouldn't put it in theirs. Holistic medicine, and at times when combined with western medicine, has the ability to prolong the lives of our babies. And with a team like the one at VCA animal healing center, I know I am giving my boys the best shot they have at living a long healthy life.
