Technician SupervisorJena Carrington
Jena has been at VCA Animal Care since May of 2009. She has been in the veterinary field since 1996 and is attending school to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician as well as a Dog Trainer/ Instructor. Through out the years of working in the Veterinary field, she has worked in all areas of the hospital but have spent most of her time as an Assistant. As the Technical Supervisor, she plays many roles in the hospital. She helps with pre/post care of all surgery patients, patient care in exam rooms, educating clients and in charge of ordering all medical supplies. She takes pride in the fact that she's continuing her education to receive her LVT and Dog Training License, so she can be more of an asset to her hospital and be able to help animals in many different ways. Jena has three dogs, a chihuahua named Layla Ann, and two pitbulls named Quinn and Georgia. She also has two cats named Dylan James and Sophie. She enjoys hiking, camping, zumba, Crossfit, spending time at the beach, participating in charity events, and most importantly playing with her animal companions.

Licensed Veterinary TechnicianCasey McCrossan
Veterinary Tech School: Vet Tech Institute
Casey is from Buffalo, New York and has been in the veterinary field since 2013. She graduated from Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in March of 2015. Casey's favorite aspects of her job are assisting in surgery and performing dental cleanings. Her and her husband share a house with four fur babies; Tilly the White Shepherd, Mason the Siberian Husky, and Flash and Arrow, the kittens. Outside of work Casey loves to read, go to the beach and spend time with her fur babies.

Veterinary AssistantSteven Bateman
Steven is from Portsmouth and has been with VCA and in the animal health care field since 2002. Prior to working with our team, he worked in the restaurant industry, movie theater and in a warehouse. His role in the hospital is an assistant.He helps manage the laboratory supplies and maintain the surgical packs.Steven enjoys helping in surgery and working with exotics. He is particularly fond of rats. His fur babies include Elmer the rabbit, Mo and Chewy, the cats. His favorite breeds of dogs are the Golden Retriever and the Pit Bull. In his spare time, Steven enjoys Brazilian jiu-jitsu, playing the banjo and reading.

Veterinary AssistantMichael Monroe
Michael is one of our Veterinary Assistant; with VCA since May 2010, he has been in the Animal Health/Welfare field for nearly 28 years and has worked with everything from Mice to African Elephants! Michael lives in Virginia Beach. His fur babies include Rusty, a 2 year old Pharaoh Hound/Basenji mix; Elmo, a 22 year old Lilac-Fronted Amazon; Lucy, a 4 year old cat (who was abandoned here at the clinic); Winston, a 2 year old Bearded Dragon. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, traveling and sleeping. " I really enjoy working with all our clients, especially those who have senior pets!"
Veterinary AssistantAlbert Phipps
Albert was born and raised on the island of St. Thomas. He has been with us since 2006. He is a veterinary assistant looking to further his career as a licensed veterinary technician. He enjoys working in the veterinary field. On his spare time, Albert loves to play basketball, lifting weights, working on cars and recently starting working on his air burshing art.
