This summer, Dr. Thompson had the opportunity to go to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico to work with a non-profit organization called ViDAS. ViDAS is a acronym whose English translation is International Veterinarians Dedicated to Animal Health. It is wonderful organization that seeks to make a difference in controlling problems associated with overpopulation through education and spay and neuter clinics. During the August trip, the group of Veterinarians, technicians, veterinary students and volunteers spayed and neutered over 800 dogs and cats in less than a week. The organization relies heavily on donations of time, money and supplies so if you are interested in helping, any amount can make a difference. The link to the website is www.vidas.org.

Dr. Thompson had his trip sponsored by VCA Charities after learning about it in a meeting. He plans on staying actively involved with both organizations in the future. VCA Charities, among other things, sponsor 5 volunteers two times a year for the ViDAS spay/neuter clinics.
