Dr. Charles Watson founded Alpine Animal Hospital in 1971. Many long-time Issaquah residents still remember the alpine hut architecture of the original building, along with the chickens living in the front.

Changes involving the widening of Sammamish Road and the development of Pickering Place altered the course of Issaquah Creek and necessitated the demolition of the old building and construction of the building we are in today. In 1997, we added 24-hour emergency care to our day practice, and in 2005 we joined the VCA family of hospitals.

We understand that your pets are much-valued and -loved members of your family, so our goal is to provide exceptional medical care for them. To further that goal, we have been accredited by the Americal Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) for 25 years. The AAHA Standards of Accreditation are widely used as benchmarks to measure excellence in veterinary medicine. There are approximately 900 standards in such categories as anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, emergency and critical care, diagnostic imaging, professional continuing education, client service and medical records.

Currently, our staff consists of five general practice doctors, four emergency doctors and a support staff of twenty five, including licensed veterinary technicians, assistants, receptionists and administrative personnel.

Specialty Care

Sometimes sick or injured pets need the care of a veterinary medical specialist. When that happens, VCA specialty hospitals work closely with the general practitioner veterinarians who refer cases to us in order to provide seamless veterinary care to your pet. Your emergency needs can be met right here at our hospital.
VCA Alpine Animal Hospital provides 24 hour emergency veterinary care, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Emergency veterinarians, veterinary technicians and/or veterinary assistants are on staff 24 hours a day.

We provide the highest standard in veterinary emergency and critical care services. We are trained and equipped to perform a variety of emergency surgeries and procedures. We provide the highest standards of pain management. Emergency internal medicine consultations, including full diagnostics, are available.
