VCA Allen Park Animal Hospital

Selena Lucas, DVM, Medical Director

Dr. Selena Lucas has been with VCA since 2010. She graduated from Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990, but she has been taking care of animals since her childhood. Her mother was pretty sure that she would become a veterinarian when she learned that Selena tried to save a crawdad that had washed up on dry land after a flood when she was 7 years old. After graduation, she practiced in San Diego for 10 years, then owned an integrated medicine hospital in Kansas City offering acupuncture and herbal medicine in addition to her usual options of surgery and internal medicine.

Dr. Lucas and her husband, Thomas, moved to Ann Arbor with their two daughters in 2010. Thomas teaches at the University of Michigan, and Selena is now the Medical Director at VCA Allen Park Animal Hospital. She brings with her a love for pets and people, and a determination to find the best possible option for each pet and family to enjoy many healthy, happy years together.
