    Amy L. Sorbie, CVT, AAS, BA
    Veterinary Tech School: Bel-Rea Institute of Technology

    Amy was raised in Colorado and attended the University of Northern Colorado and then Colorado State University where she received a bachelor�s degree in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. She taught in the public school system for three years before attending the Bel-Rea Institute of Technology. Upon Graduation from Bel-Rea with an Associate�s degree in Animal Science in 1991, Amy joined the staff at Alameda East Veterinary Hospital as the Laboratory Supervisor. Amy has received numerous hours of specialized laboratory training and has become highly experienced in veterinary laboratory management. She served on the national advisory board for Idexx Laboratories Inc. from 2004 to 2007. Amy also held the positions of Dental Supervisor, Pharmacy Supervisor and Technician Intern Coordinator before being promoted to Technician Manager in 2010. She brings nineteen years of clinical experience to our technical team. Together with our department supervisors, Amy manages over seventy of the best and brightest certified technicians in the field.

    Amy lives in the Denver metro area with her husband and two children, Colton 12 and Brenna 9. Amy breeds and shows champion purebred Borzoi. She has bred over 40 champions including a Westminster breed winner, a Best in Show winner and numerous specialty winners. Two of her dogs gained the status of #1 Borzoi in the country in 2000 and 2001. Amy is also an AKC licensed hound judge and has judged throughout the United States and internationally. Her other interests include; classical music, reading, learning about electronics from her son, and watching her daughter perform in dance competitions.

VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital provides 24 hour emergency veterinary care, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Emergency veterinarians, veterinary technicians and/or veterinary assistants are on staff 24 hours a day.
