Bobbi Hafer
Biography
Dr. Bobbi Hafer is a Kansas State University graduate. She received her undergraduate Animal Science degree with honors and doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Upon graduation, she completed a one year rotating internship here at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital and stayed on as a staff veterinarian. Dr. Hafer’s schedule easily accommodates clients including traditional daytime appointments as well as Tuesday evenings and Sunday appointments. She enjoys caring for all her dogs, cats, as well as her “scaly and fuzzy” friends!
A farm girl from Nebraska at heart, she loves to work with animals both large and small. While in elementary school she dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and has worked with animals ever since. During her undergraduate and graduate coursework, Dr. Hafer ignited a special interest in the non-traditional pets. Kansas State's Exotic and Zoo animal program allowed her to work with many common and uncommon species including an anteater, aardvark, coati mundi, ferret, hedgehog, kangaroo, lion, monkey, orangutan, rabbit, raptor, snake, sugar glider, tiger, turtle, wallaby, zebra, and various lizards and birds. During her Alameda East Internship she volunteered at the Denver Zoo, considering a future in Zoological Medicine. Ultimately, she decided to continue her career in general practice here at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Hafer believes it is a blessing to have such a diverse group of patients; her patients today include dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, small rodents, sugar gliders, snakes, lizards, turtles and more… It keeps her on her toes every day!
Bobbi and her husband, Justin, have two children – Kaitlyn and Tyler. She also has two mischievous Jack Russell Terriers, Dixie and Wrigley, and two cockatiels, Jude and Jade. Dr. Bobbi enjoys spending time with her family; playing volleyball, enjoying the outdoors and visiting family & friends in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas and Illinois.
